Brothers & Sisters:
On February 24th a coalition of public sector Unions, the AFL-CIO, Jobs With Justice and community groups are calling for a Working Peoples' Day of Action. Rallies are currently planned in eleven cities with more cities expected to join in the coming days. Following the day of action, on February 26th, oral arguments will be heard in the Janus v. AFSCME U.S. Supreme Court case. Labor will be there in force on the steps of the Supreme Court. Our message is clear: Corporate elites, their extremist allies, and the politicians who do their bidding cannot be allowed to destroy working people lives and the Unions that represent them in order to line their own pockets and empty ours. The ADHOC committee on Janus formed out of the TWU convention has recommended that the International support this effort and mobilize as many members to participate in rallies across the nation and in DC. The fight for decent working conditions and justice on the job is on-going and TWU will be there every step of the way.
Rallies are currently planned for February 24th in these cities: Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, San Diego, Washington DC, Miami, St. Paul, and Memphis.
