    We continue to look at our response to coronavirus (COVID-19) and make necessary adjustments across the organization to support our smaller operation. We’ve heard from many team members who would like to either extend their current leave of absence or reconsider a leave during this period of lower travel demand.

    To address this feedback and respond to our smaller summer schedule, we’re reopening the voluntary leave of absence (VLOA) program for all frontline represented team members, excluding pilots. This VLOA would begin on a date determined with your leadership and run through Sept. 30, 2020. Leaves will be granted based on operational demand and availability.

    Flight attendants should check their CCI messages for information, coming soon, about a one month PVLOA for Aug.

    The application window for the VLOA program will open on June 17 and will close at 11:59 PM CT on June 27.

    • Eligibility: Active, domestic U.S.-based mainline frontline represented team members, excluding pilots. Team members on a previously offered VLOA are eligible to apply and extend their leave.
    • Pay: 25% of your contractual regular work schedule.
    • Travel and Medical: Current active privileges and benefits.
    • Sick and Vacation Accrual: Current accrual rates.

    Voluntary leave of absence (VLOA)
    Eligibility Eligibility All active, domestic U.S.-based mainline frontline represented team members, excluding pilots
    Key Dates Deadline to apply June 27 at 11:59 p.m. CT
    Duration Through Sept. 30, 2020
    Pay Pay

    You will be paid for 25% of your contractual regular work schedule at pay rates based on seniority, which does not include any premiums, shift differentials, overtime pay, etc., through Sept. 30, 2020:

    Flight attendants: 25% of guarantee (19 hours)

    Dispatchers: 25% of minimum monthly salary

    Flight crew training instructors: 25% of standard monthly schedule requirement

    All other represented team members: 25% of the work week for full-time (10 hours of pay per week) and 5 hours of pay per week for part-time

    Travel Non-revenue travel privileges Maintain current travel privileges
    Medical Medical coverage No change; receive same medical coverage at same rates you do today
    Retirement Make contributions to your 401(k) and receive company match / contributions Yes, you can continue to contribute to your 401(k). Any applicable company contributions and/or matches will continue, but based on your reduced pay.
    Make 401(k) loan payments Yes, as required by the loan agreement
    Vacation Accrue vacation Yes, vacation will be accrued as outlined in your CBA.
    Receive a vacation payout You will be paid for any vacation already requested and granted during your leave period.
    Sick Accrue sick Yes, sick time will be accrued as outlined in your CBA.
