    Benefits 2021

    Short Term Disability (STD)

    Members currently on the TWU Union STD ( UBP) through Hartford will have the option to remain on the Hartford Plan, new enrollment will be allowed, at a rate of $35.35 per month.

    Members on American Airlines Metlife STD , this policy will cease on 12/31/2020 , members will have the option to enroll in the Hartford Plan (UBP ) $35.35 per Month or the New STD through National Group Protection( NGP ) Continental being offered through the Union, rates based on age and option selected from $27.12 to $196.18 per month for (NGP).

    Go to : Look at the bottom of your pay statement, in after tax deductions, it will spell out Short Term (STD) this is AA Metlife.

    Hartford and Continental plans vary in coverage and cost please review carefully!

    Long Term Disability (LTD)

    All members will be automatically enrolled in  Metlife LTD through American Airlines, if members wish to decline coverage (LTD), they must through Benefit Enrollment online program during open enrollment. Members currently enrolled in the Hartford LTD thru (UBP) will have the the option to remain with the Hartford LTD  through (UBP) the TWU Local 567, however a direct deposit will be required in Late December or early January. 

    Hartford and Metlife plans vary in coverage and cost please review carefully!

    Go to your Pay statement and look at after tax deductions TWU LTD for Hartford Cost through Union Benefit Planners (UBP)

    Go to Benefit enrollment tool on Jetnet the price for TWU LTD is for New Metlife LTD offer by American Airlines 

    Some Differences in Hartford LTD (current) and Met Life LTD (New company plan)

    Hartford

    • 50% pay Tax free
    • Pays after 6 months 
    • Premiums are cut in half for members 50 and older 
    • Hartford LTD no longer has a pension contribution benefit and back door social security benefit

    Met Life

    • 60% pay Tax free
    • Pays after 4 months
    • 24-months for soft tissue and/or Musculoskeletal. This does not include muscular diseases.
    • If you are under 60 years old the plan pays to age 65.  If you are older then 60 it will pay for 5 years at date of disability.
