Brother and sisters,

In an effort to put some pressure on Washington to mitigate the harm to our membership during this bankruptcy, please write the president and any or all of you local politicians. Below is sample letter:

I'm an American Airlines employee with XX years of dedicated service, a family man/woman with XX young children, a Union member and part of the shrinking middle class that helped you win the White House 4 years ago. I can no longer sit idly by as I watch corporate greed devastate my life and the lives of thousands of my co-workers. When AA filed for chapter 11 on Nov. 29th, they said Unionized labor was to blame. Their inability to manage with the billions of dollars in concessions WE gave them in 2003 and their inability to manage their business are the sole reasons the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. They are now asking for things that are unthinkable. They want to jettison our pensions and send more good American jobs oversea at a time when the economy and job markets are showing improvement. I'm asking for help. I'm asking for you to take a good look at what this company is trying to do and see for yourself why the middle class is now the 99%. We've played by the rules, they should too.
