Support Transportation
Security Officers
When the TSA was formed following 9-11 Congress deprived 55,000
Transportation Security Officers of the right to collective bargaining.
The time has come for those workers to be given back the right to
form a union. Please copy and paste the following text into a letter
and send it by fax (preferred or US mail (to their local offices
only) to Senators Cornyn and Hutchison. Their fax numbers and home
office addresses are provided. Be sure to include your name and address.

Dear Senator
I urge you to support the inclusion of a provision that would grant
TSO's the union rights and labor rights afforded to other workers
in TSA and DHS in the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Committee's version of legislation to implement the 9/11 Commission
recommendations.
TSA has been plagued by problems never seen in any federal agency.
It leads the federal government in attrition and injury rates. Union
and other labor rights are necessary to ensure the highly trained,
experienced, career screener workforce the public demands and the
9/11 Commission recommends.
Collective bargaining rights for TSO's will not hinder the federal
government's emergency response capability. Every union contract
with federal government agencies includes the right to assign work
and detail workers as necessary, including in times of emergency.
Collective bargaining agreements set procedures for work assignments,
which leads to stability in the workplace. Union rights lead to trained,
experienced and efficient workers and that is what makes us a safer
nation.
I urge you to support the bipartisan effort to provide TSO's with
basic union and labor rights. Please let me know where you stand
on this issue.
Sincerely, (your name)
