January 9, 2007 AFW JSC Meeting Minutes
Doug Dixon opened the meeting by giving an overview of the 5S process and how it relates to safety.
Open Items:
(1) TAESL
a. Test Cell Fall Protection – In Work.
b. Working to ensure all ladders are safe and OSHA compliant. (Ladders are primarily in build line). – In Work.
c. Ergonomics needed for the 05 Shop – Ergonomist needs to get involved/Chris Shultz.
d. Ergonomics needed for the 08/TBH Shop – In Works, Chris Shultz.
e. TAESL Records – area in TAESL needs hand rails and several loading and unloading docks for fear of someone falling off and being injured – Ricky Brock/Safety Circle.
(2) VPP will require a Near Miss Program to be in place. Leeman to form a committee that has representatives from all areas on base – Open, Leeman Adams.
(3) Thrust Reverser Shop needs new stands – In Work, Facilities has completed two prototype stands.
(4) Portable Fall Restraint for areas that don't have fall protection – In Work, Wing grip presentation will be held Friday, January 12 th in the Hangar.
(5) Fall Protection – Battery and Wire Harness Shops 2 nd floor Stock Clerks – In Work, Kevin Haugh to follow up.
New Items:
(1) Dennis Cassady informed the group that door handles in the Seat Shop are needed.
(2) Dennis Cassady has mentioned that the breeze way area outside of TAESL has several pieces of equipment and items that are stored along the perimeter. This creates a hazardous situation and an untidy appearance – Leo Dominguez/Chris Shultz to follow up.
Items Discussed:
VPP: Joe Green reported that the VPP Leadership will be meeting Friday, January 12 th to kick off 2007. Meetings for the year will be scheduled.
Monthly Injury Data: Chris Blue will be attending the JSC to report on the injuries for the month during the first ten minutes of the meeting.
IH Announcement: Mr. Campbell reported that Peggy Sterling at Corporate Safety has freed up an Industrial Hygienist position. This will allow Charles Mendez to be at AFW on a regular basis.
Safety Glasses: The base wide safety glass implementation is off to a good start. Prescription eyewear program needs to be revamped and discussion needed over company's contribution towards progressive eyewear.
ERT: Kip Richard reported that he is working with Chris Shultz on a way for people to be able to sign up for ERT classes online.
