What’s new: There are two key deadlines Dec. 8 for our spending account transition to Fidelity Investments:
If you have a health savings account (HSA), you have until 2 p.m. CT to consent to include your current HSA in American’s bulk transfer to Fidelity, which can help save you fees. Just head to the Benefits Service Center, click on the Transfer of Assets and Account Closure Authorization tile, and follow the prompts.
If you have a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA), you have until 2 p.m. CT to submit any reimbursement claims for eligible expenses to Alight Smart-Choice Accounts before the HRA blackout period begins Dec. 9. If you miss this deadline, you can request reimbursement from Fidelity beginning Jan. 11, 2024.
Why it matters: Not only do we want to make sure this transition to Fidelity goes as smoothly as possible for you, but we also want you to be able to plan ahead for periods when you may not have access to all of your account dollars or credits.
Got questions? We’ve got answers in our Fidelity virtual information sessions. Upcoming sessions are Dec. 5, 7 and 13, with multiple times throughout the day. Register now through our dedicated transition site.
