UPDATE: The 2025 Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition is in the books. American’s Line and Base Maintenance teams and two American-sponsored student teams took home honors in several events.
- The Line Maintenance team took home first place in the Perfect Point EDM E-Drill Fastener Removal and Southwest Airlines/Barfield Systems Acoustic Ultrasound Troubleshooting events.
- American’s Base Maintenance team topped the leaderboard in the American-sponsored Logo Light event but deferred the victory to the Royal Canadian Air Force in the spirit of competition.
- Tulsa Tech received honorable mentions in the Abaris Training Composite Repair and Eaton Rigid Tube Assembly Repair events. The team also took third place in the overall School category.
- West Los Angeles College was the top-performing school in the FedEx Safety Wire event. Additionally, student Hugo Hernandez was chosen by the judges for the Student Professionalism Award.

The Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition (AMC) is an annual event where airline, military and student teams compete in more than 20 aviation maintenance challenges.
Last year, talented team members from our aircraft maintenance teams nationwide applied for a coveted spot in this year’s Aerospace Maintenance Council (AMC) Competition. From these applicants, twelve standout team members were carefully selected by a panel of their peers and leaders to represent American in Atlanta April 7-10.

“The students participating will be in awe of big-name airlines and companies at the competition, but they’ll want to work for the winners,” says Joel Nelson, Managing Director of Line Maintenance and Sponsor of Line Maintenance AMC team. “You’ve all been recognized for your individual expertise, but how will you use your individual strengths to build a winning team that attracts new talent for American?”
The AMC allows AMTs to display their expertise, network and promote their profession. It also serves as a platform for American to nurture the next generation of AMTs, engineers and more by inspiring those considering a career in aviation.
